ACTIVITIES

We will be trying to put buoys back on the structures and  run ropes between them. Anyone interested in helping should let Jackie Herrick know Sunday morning at the lake so she can coordinate the work. Those not interesting in working are welcome to come and dive for fun!

Preliminary plans call for removing the van from the lake  on Saturday, May 24. More information at the meeting.

The Ohio Quarry trip will be July 3, 4, 5 and 6. Call Jim  Faitanini for more information.

The September dive trip to Bonaire, great price, great diving AND dive with Ned and Anna DeLoach! Call Jan at Do Dive In to sign up. We  have added rooms so there are a few more slots available.

CII Embroidery on Main Street in Galesburg has our club logo and will put it on most any clothing article for you. The club has paid the setup fee already, so your cost will be only for the clothing article and the actual embroidery on your article(s).

Our club would like a platform installed at Strode Lake in shallower water, close to the entry.  A committee of Rick Shaw, Jim F., Ron Jennings, Steve Herrick, and Jim Garner will get the information needed to proceed.  We will need an estimate of expenses and permission from Strode Lake.  Perhaps Do Dive In and the WIU Dive Club would help in this project.

The club would like an updated map made of Strode Lake for divers. It should include degrees and distances.  Maybe waterproof and maybe a money project for our club.

Our club and Dan Walters from Keep Bubbin Dive Shop may join in setting up a navigation course at Strode Lake.

Cozumel Mexico Although there are many dive outfits, my favorite is Liquid Blue Divers. Small boat and extended range steel tank diving makes for  extended bottom times.

Grand Turk Island BWI. If you like wall diving, this is a great destination. The wall is only a few minutes from the dive shop so there is very little time spent in getting to the many dive sites. Although the other dive ops are quite competent, I had a great time with Oasis Divers. Also, if you go to Grand Turk Oasis Divers has a trip to Gibbs Cay where you can, similar to Sting Ray City, snorkle with Sting Rays. During Wale Season (February to March), they have a great whale watching excusion.

Key West, Florida Dive the only coral reef in the continental United States and at the same time experience the fun of Key West. Webmasters choice for diving in Key West is Southpoint Divers at www.southpointdivers.com They give you maximum bottom time for your money.
