Hawthorn Fire Training Center 3:15 p.m.

No board meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Vickie.

Roll call by Cheryl. 21 members were present.

SECRETARYS REPORT: Minutes of the December meeting were read. Jim Graham motioned to accept, seconded by  John Oakley. Motion carried.

TREASURER REPORT: Balance in checking is $288.60.  Jackie motioned to accept, seconded by Jim Graham.Motion carried.  Rental for Hawthorn Pool for 2 hours this  afternoon will be $130.00. Bonnie will pay this afternoon.

ACTIVITY DIRECTORS REPORT:  Discover Scuba will be February 10 at  Hawthorn Pool, 4:30-7:30.  Jackie has flyers.  She will need volunteers to help  at the pool.  Info is on our web site.  Do Dive In is sponsoring a dive at  the aquariums at the Mall America, March 7-9.  Contact Do Dive In for more info.  A trip to Bonaire is scheduled for  September 13-20. They will be staying at the Buddy Dive Resort.  Contact Jackie or  the Do Dive In for more information.  A  trip to Bonaire is also scheduled for June, 2009. The Do Dive In will have an equipment specialty class on January 26 and  they also sponsor a Nitrox class, the first Saturday of each month.  Jackie or the Do Dive In has info.  Our World Underwater is Feb 15-17 in Rosemont, Il.

MEMBER ACTIVITIES:  Steve Herrick will have a photography exhibit at Chez Willys in  February.  It will be displayed for 2  months. Watch the newsletter for opening  date.  Jim Graham will be diving at Grand Turk in March.  Terry Ward is diving Belize, leaving  next Saturday.  Pat Horowitz dove in Florida recently.  Brenda and John are going to  Curacuo in March.  Paul Fager is going to  the Grand Caymans in May.

 

OLD BUSINESS: The slate of officers for 2008 was read and nomination were asked from the floor.  Jim Graham, moved to close nominations, seconded by Jackie.  Motion carried.  Jim Graham moved to approve  officers as a slate, seconded by Jack Oakley. Motioned carried.  New officers  are:  President-Heather Norman; Vick  President-Jean Garner;  Secretary-Cheryl  Benjamin; Treasurer-Bonnie Jennings, Activities Director-Jackie Herrick.  Cathy and Tom Van Wasselhoff sent the club a Christmas Card.  They now have three children.

NEW BUSINESS:  Jim Graham recommends we look up web site Facebook.com, that has several  dive sites.  The club could create a site here.  We will discuss in the  future.

Dive classes will be held in Galesburg in March.  Next meeting at HawthornFireTrainingCenter on February 10, 3:00  p.m., followed by Discover SCUBA at the pool.
